Hyperopia Hyperopia, also referred to as farsightedness, is the ability to see objects clearly at a distance but not up close. Like nearsightedness, farsightedness can be an inherited condition. Headaches or a lack of interest in reading may be indications of a significant amount of hyperopia. Treatment Hyperopia is best treated with eyeglasses or contact lenses, although laser refractive surgery might be considered in some cases.
