Myopia Myopia, also referred to as nearsightedness, is the ability to see objects up close clearly but not at a distance. It is considered to be an inherited condition and is usually detected in children between the ages of eight and twelve years of age. Treatment Myopia is usually treated with eyeglasses and contact lenses. However after stabilization of the myopia correction occurs, refractive surgery may be a possible alternative treatment.
