Dr. Melissa Summerfield grew up in Clinton, IA.  She obtained her undergraduate degree at Luther College in Decorah. IA.  She continued her education by receiving her masters in psychology from University of Northern Iowa and her medical degree from Creighton University.  She completed her residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Ophthalmology. 

Dr. Summerfield and her husband have two sons.  She enjoys running, photography, and kayaking.
